Theta Nu Chapter was awarded for fraternal excellence for the second consecutive year at the Balfour Leadership Training Workshop (LTW). This year’s Workshop was at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska from July 31st through August 3rd, 2003.
Brother Brendan Guilford (05) attended the Consul programs for Chapter development, Brother Tom Martin (04) met with other Sigs for the Pro-Consul curriculum which focused on Chapter operations, Brother Ian MacDonald (04) learned new financial strategies with the Quaestor faculty, and Brother Nate Belill (05) traded and learned new ideas for improving recruitment while also leading the charge against fraternal hazing.
Also attending Workshop was Brother Matthew VandenBerg (01) to kick off his tenure as Theta Nu Chapter’s first representative as a Balfour Fellow. This prestigious award goes to Sigma Chi’s who have demonstrated excellence both within and outside of the Fraternity. Brother VandenBerg will advise the DePauw University Chapter of Sigma Chi in its scholarship efforts while he attends graduate school at Indiana University.
Theta Nu was honored with multiple individual honors for its efforts in the 2002-2003 school year.
Brother Rob Nicholson’s (04) sincere efforts as Peterson Chair last year were rewarded with Theta Nu Chapter’s sixth Peterson Award. Only 5-10% of the general Fraternity receives the Peterson due to its significant application requirements and the difficulty of the application process.
Brother Martin’s efforts as Risk Management Chair have resulted in Theta Nu Chapter being Sigma Chi Fraternity’s RMF Award winner for 2003-2004. This distinction is awarded to the Chapter that demonstrates the most progressive risk management program for Chapter health and security.
Brother Joe Phillips (03) was honored as both Theta Nu and the Eastern Michigan Province’s Balfour winner for 2002-2003. This award goes to the most outstanding graduating Brother. Brother Phillips is the third consecutive Theta Nu Brother to receive the Province Balfour award.
