The Costs of Membership

The following fees are required before a potential member can be initiated. In parentheses is the time at which these fees are due.

rose1.gif (241 bytes) $20 Pledge Fee (due at Pledge Ceremony)
rose1.gif (241 bytes) $35 Initiation Fee (due at National Test)- This includes $10 towards your optional Life Membership fee
rose1.gif (241 bytes) $45 Badge Fee (due at National Test)- This can be more if you decide to purchase a 14 kt gold badge
rose1.gif (241 bytes) $12.50 National Dues (due at National Test)

To sum up these values, $20 is due at the time of pledging, and $92.50 (or more, depending on the badge you choose) is due when you take the National Test. You are not charged local dues for the semester you are initiated.

After you are initiated, your semester dues are as follows:
rose1.gif (241 bytes) $12.50 National Dues
rose1.gif (241 bytes) $50 Local Dues

These dues are due at the FIRST meeting in October (Fall Term) and February (Winter Term). If a member cannot pay at that time, an excuse note can be written and an extension granted from the Treasurer.

Naturally, there are other things that many SAIs spend their money on that are not required. These are:
rose1.gif (241 bytes) Life Membership. Life Membership is $50 before you graduate from college, and $100 after. However, $10 from your initiation fee goes toward this, making it only $40 before graduation, and $90 after. Being a Life Member allows you to receive the Sigma Alpha Iota quarterly publication Pan Pipes, and allows you to join an alumnae chapter after graduation.
rose1.gif (241 bytes) Sigma Alpha Iota jewelry, guards, and dangles. Often the chapter receives order forms for SAI jewelry, and a popular item is guards or dangles for members to attach to their badges. Sigma Alpha Iota also uses jewelry for individual chapter member awards such as Sword of Honor, Ruby Sword of Honor, Rose of Excellence, etc.
