On Wednesday, February 4th, the Alma College Men’s Basketball team played host to the Tri State University Thunder. It was geared to be a high scoring contest, and there were no doubts after the final buzzer. At the half the Scots trailed 72 57. They came out strong in the second half tying the score at 85, but made too many mistakes down the stretch to come out victorious. The Thunder eventually pulled away with pure free throw shooting and won the game 106 98. Alma was led by Eric Jones (04) who scored a season high of 23 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. The senior shot an incredible 92 per-cent from the field. Contributing as well was Anthony Jones (07). He was just shy of a triple double scoring 24 points, grabbing eight boards, and serving eight assists. Guard Jayme Fazi (06) added 13 points and three assists.
The men changed their luck this past Saturday, ending their long conference skid. Alma played host to Olivet Col-lege and defeated the Comets 76 61. Once again, it was the duo of Jones & Jones leading the way. Senior Eric led the Scots with 19 points and six rebounds. Freshman Anthony put in for 16 points in 34 minutes of play. Carlton Hill (06) added 10 points.
The men’s team tries to maintain their winning luck with a road game at Adrian this Wednesday. Tip-off will be at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, the 14th, the Scots will play their last home game against Calvin.
