Scots drop two games, league losing streak hits 35

The first test this past week for Alma’s men’s basketball team was on January 28 against MIAA conference leader Hope. After trailing by twenty one at halftime, the Scots were able to slice into the deficit in the second half. However, the pure shooting of the Dutchmen enabled them to even-tually pull away, winning the game 86 - 59. Anthony Jones (07) led the way for Alma with 15 points in 30 minutes of play. Brian Hall (07) contributed ten points, while Eric Jones (04) and Mike Thompson (07) each had eight. Isaac Smith (07) crashed the boards with five re-bounds in 22 minutes of game time.

Knights, Britons prove more than a match for Scots

The Alma College Lady Scots basketball team had a difficult time last week falling to Calvin and Albion by narrow margins. Last Thursday, in a game postponed due to the weather, the Calvin Knights defeated the Alma College Lady Scots 63-52. Despite the 11 point margin of loss, Coach Charlie Goffnet said, “We played hard and competed well for most of the game.”

Exciting Super Bowl keeps Alma students entertained

Sunday’s Super Bowl viewers were in for surprises. Whether it was the New England Patriots’ deciding field goal in the final seconds of the game or the Janet Jackson fiasco, an interesting time was had by all.
