Scots finish out first half of season on positive note with win over Adrian

The women’s basketball team defeated Adrian College on Jan. 21st with a final score of 70-66. The Scots are now at 4-3 in the MIAA and 10-6 overall.
The Scots trailed Adrian by 9 points after the first period 30-39 and came back strong in the second half 40-27.
The overall star of the game was Karen Hall (04) who scored an impressive 21 points and managed 8 total rebounds. Hall didn’t make any blocks or assists, but managed to make one steal.
The next leader in terms of points was Katey Peacock (06) who scored 15 points. Peacock also managed 4 as-sists, one block, and one steal.
Michelle Dettling (05) and Ashley Borcherding (06) were also among the high scorers, both secur-ing 12 points each. Both also made 3 assists.
Rondi Lounds (05) was the team leader in both assists and steals, mak-ing 5 assists and 3 steals.
The Lady Scots showed their skills and determination when they overcame Adrian by 13 points in the second half after having been behind by 9 points.
“It was a gutsy win,” Dettling said. “We dug down and pulled off a win.”
The Lady Scots achieved a 57% shooting percentage from the floor, 47% from beyond the arc, and 75% from the free throw line.
Peacock attributed the team’s success to how the teammates interact with each other. “Our continued strength is working together as a team,” Peacock said. “Adrian is always very physical, and it said a lot that we were physical back.”
The Scots will be traveling to Grand Rapids tonight to face off against the Knights of Calvin College. As of Jan. 22nd, Calvin was 6-1 in the MIAA and 12-3 overall. Tonight’s game time is set at 7:30 p.m.
