The men’s basketball team traveled to Grand Rapids this past Wednesday for a MIAA contest with Calvin. The Scots weak shooting allowed the Knights to pull away early and never let up. The aggressive play of MIAA front runner Calvin softened Alma. The Knights beat the Scots 95 - 45. Top scorers were Anthony Jones (07) and Brian Hall (07) with nine and eight points, respectively.
On Saturday, Alma played host to Albion. Led by the enthusiastic play of freshman, Dominick Allen (07), the Scots were able to cut the deficit to ten at halftime. Once the second half began, the Britons took control, eventually winning the contest 84 - 48. Leading the Alma men was Jones with nine points and four boards. Carlton Hill (07) also had nine points. Allen contributed six points, four rebounds, and three blocks in limited action. Senior Eric Jones (04) provided four points and four rebounds to help fill the spot left open by an injury suffered to junior, Joe Baysdell (05).
This upcoming week, the men hope to change their luck and finish the season strong, providing a strong founda-tion for years to come. Next up for the Scots is a home contest against Hope on Wednesday, January 28th at 7:30 p.m. Then on Saturday, they will be traveling to Kalamazoo to take on the Hornets of Kalamazoo College. Tip-off is at 3:00 p.m.
